Manchester United’s attackers let the team down once again on Sunday when they failed to make their chances count and eventually had to settle for a point against Chelsea.

Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were guilty of spurning glorious opportunities while Rasmus Hojlund struggled upfront on his own.

Incoming head coach Ruben Amorim needs to find a solution to the problem of lack of goals with many tipping the Portuguese to sign Viktor Gyokeres for the Red Devils.

But whether INEOS can afford the Swede or whether the player wants to come to Old Trafford remains to be seen. For now, the Sporting Lisbon boss needs to work with what he has got.

Hojlund excited to work under Amorim

Hojlund was top scorer last time and has similar attributes as the former Coventry City man. He just needs the right system and a manager who can bring out his enormous potential.

Experts have backed Amorim to be the man to get the former Atalanta star firing in red and the Denmark international is extremely excited with the prospect of working under the 39-year-old.

“I’m really looking forward to it. Good ideas. I have seen how they play. I have spoken to Morten (Hjulmand, Sporting midfielder) about it, and he is also very satisfied with the coach, so I am really looking forward to him setting foot here,” Hojlund was quoted as saying by Tipsbladet.

Interestingly, Amorim’s age has been the topic of discussion in the United dressing room as previously relayed by The Peoples Person with Hojlund feeling that could make for an even better connection as the coach will know how to deal with young stars.

“I think it is only good. He has an understanding of what the new, modern football is like. I don’t necessarily see it as a bad thing that he is young. On the contrary, it might even give something extra.”

New system excites Rasmus

And his unique 3-4-3 system is also something the 21-year-old has not played in and he is excited to see what that can unlock in his game.

“From what I’ve seen so far, it’s a three-back chain, and it might be a little different from what I’ve been used to in the past. So it will be exciting to see how he will implement his ideas, and I am very much looking forward to working with a young and ambitious manager.”

The United No 9 cannot afford to get too ahead of himself with interim boss Ruud van Nistelrooy in charge for the club’s next two games.

And the former United striker will hope to see more from the Denmark international and summer signing Joshua Zirkzee if United are to continue their unbeaten run under him.
