Rasmus Hojlund may have the option of continuing to test his resolve in the Premier League if he completes his anticipated Manchester United exit before deadline day.

Indeed, in an unexpected turn of events, MailSport now claims that Fulham are sizing up a swoop for the out-of-favour Red and are showing ‘tentative interest’ in striking up a deal.

Before sending any kind of proposal United’s way, the Cottagers want to be certain Hojlund is actually open to the move, with current reports suggesting he’s favouring a switch to AC Milan if he is pressured into a premature Old Trafford exit.

While not actively forcing him out, the United hierarchy has made it clear to the 22-year-old that he will not be playing a prominent role if he decides to stay put next season.

The fact Hojlund did not feature for even a minute of the side’s final pre-season friendly last weekend – even without new arrival Benjamin Sesko in the squad – made Ruben Amorim’s stance on the situation perfectly clear for all involved.

A departure before deadline day would see the Dane’s United tenure cut short after just two years. In that time, he has failed to really make a name for himself in England, having returned only 14 league goals in 62 appearances.

INEOS mulling over Hojlund options

As such, the club shelling out a whopping £66.3 million to facilitate Sesko’s arrival cemented Hojlund’s place in Amorim’s plans.

Whether INEOS would look to negotiate a season-long loan this summer remains to be seen. At least that way, he can spend 10 months trying to revive his stagnant form whilst driving up his transfer value ahead of a permanent sale this time next year.

Fulham finished 11th-placed last term, and it’s highly unlikely they’d be able to match any price tag United attach to their No.9 in the coming weeks.
