Sky Germany reports that RB Leipzig are set to complete their first signing of the winter window as they bolster their attacking options.

Nigerian winger Suleimani Sani will join from AS Trencin for €5m, in a deal which could rise to €6m if bonuses are met. The 19-year-old is already in Leipzig ahead of his medical and his signing later today.

Despite joining from the Slovakian first division, Sani is not expected to be loaned out as soon as he moves. The Nigerian can play on either wing and will offer depth to both the left and the right behind Yan Diomande, Johan Bakayoko and Antonio Nusa.

In 14 games for Trencin this season, Sani has three goals and four assists as the club near the Czechia border currently sits 10th in the Slovakian first division.

Does Leipzig need depth on the wings?

The absence of Diomande at the Africa Cup of Nations, as well as the poorly timed injuries to both Bakayoko and Nusa before the Ivorian’s departure, meant Leipzig had to give minutes to the likes of Tidaim Gomis, who is still working on his breakthrough at the Red Bull Arena, and even Timo Werner.

The addition of Sani means that Leipzig now has a specialist winger to call upon if needed.
