RB Salzburg are pushing to appoint Rangers manager Danny Rohl as their new head coach, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg.
Rangers missed out on the Scottish Premiership title last term, finishing third behind Celtic and Hearts, but Rohl remains in charge.
However, Salzburg are now looking to lure him to Austria, and the clubs are already in direct contact as they work on finding a solution.
Rohl previously managed RB Leipzig, and working with the Red Bull group again could be appealing to him.
They need a manager capable of giving Celtic a run for their money next season.
Rangers had a chance of winning the league title last term, but losing four of their last six games scuppered their chances.
They will not be short of options if they need to replace Rohl in the coming weeks.
The 37-year-old German joined Rangers in October 2025 shortly after leaving Sheffield Wednesday, signing a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Salzburg are sounding out options as they look to replace Daniel Beichler, whom they parted ways with last month after finishing third in the league.
Rohl has emerged as a target, and he must decide if he wants to remain at Rangers or move elsewhere.
