Ole Book (in the mixed zone): “We started with great intensity, pressed well, went at them with courage and, above all, showed some fine footballing quality, so we fully deserved to be in the lead. We might have been able to kill the game off even earlier, but it was simply a good performance. The lads really played with great determination and did a good job today.”
(at the press conference): “We deserved to win the match – our 1000th Bundesliga home game. (See the facts) It’s a lovely anniversary with a really great result, and a really great first half. The second half was fine in my opinion, too. We could perhaps have put in a bit more effort, but the way we played, especially in the first half, convinced me and made me happy. That was a very good response to what hasn’t gone well over the last couple of weeks. And then everything fell into place: we kept a clean sheet, scored four goals again, and we brought on two young players who got a taste of Bundesliga action. All in all, we’re all very satisfied.”
Marcel Sabitzer (on DAZN): “Freiburg had a tough game on Thursday. We know from our own experience: you have to get into the game in the first ten to 20 minutes. We took advantage of that. We played very well in the first 30 minutes, scored three goals straight away and, in the end, won by a comfortable margin that was fully deserved. We moved the ball around well and scored some great goals. Our energy and sharpness were spot on. And then you end up winning a game like this 4-0. Our aim is to finish at worst second in the league. That’s the mission.”
(on DAZN and in the mixed zone): “Lovely weather, a brilliant stadium, we’re winning – what more could you want? It’s been a tough couple of weeks. That makes it all the sweeter that we managed to win, and by four goals. That’s good for the team, it’s good for the fans. It was a great day today. We secured Champions League qualification in our 1,000th home game, and that’s obviously brilliant and very important for next season.”
Fabio Silva (in the mixed zone): “Whether I’m in the starting line-up or not: whenever the manager wants me on the pitch, I try to help the team. I think everyone can see that I’m more than just a goalscorer. I think everyone can see from the way I play that I can help the team. Of course, as a striker, it’s important to score goals. I think it’s the best feeling when you score a goal. At certain moments this season, it was more important to set up goals. I’m very happy with my performance and what I can bring to the team.”Transcribed by Boris Rupert
