Real Betis have enquired about FC Barcelona midfielder Marc Casadó to reinforce the pivot after Johnny Cardoso’s move to Atlético de Madrid, according to La Colina De Nervion.
Cardoso played 65 official games for Betis and left a gap of range, aggression and physicality in a zone where Manuel Pellegrini seeks stability.
Casadó, 22, is 1.72 metres tall and operates as a defensive midfielder known for reading the game. He organises, corrects, presses after loss and keeps the ball moving. Barcelona describe him as balanced, diligent and a leader.
Finances complicate any deal. Casadó is under contract until 30 June 2028. Transfermarkt lists him at 18 million euros, with talk in Barcelona of a figure above 20 million, so Betis may need sales or a flexible structure such as a loan with option, add-ons or a shared operation.
Pellegrini already has creators such as Isco, Pablo Fornals and Giovani Lo Celso. The balance of the side hinges on a reliable pivot to limit opposition transitions and sustain high-tempo matches.
Casadó has also been linked with other European clubs, raising competition and strengthening Barcelona’s position. For any move to progress, Betis must present an acceptable formula to Barcelona and a clear role to the player. Minutes, Champions and continuity are persuasive, although they may not suffice if a richer bidder emerges.
