Real Betis star Antony confirms transfer talks with another La Liga club | OneFootball

Real Betis star Antony has revealed that he held initial discussions with another leading La Liga club over the summer.

The outfit in question? Atlético Madrid.

Wide-man Antony is for his part of course fresh off securing a return to Spain’s top-flight.

After a stellar loan stint with the aforementioned Real Betis over the 2nd-half of last season, the Brazilian was snapped up by the Verdiblancos on a permanent basis over the summer.

This came after the brass at the Benito Villamarín agreed to meet the financial demands laid out by Manchester United.

As alluded to above, though, Betis, it has since been revealed, were not the only La Liga outfit in the running for the former Ajax man.

Speaking during an interview with Diario AS (as cited by Mundo Deportivo) this weekend, Antony was drawn on the summer speculation surrounding his name.

And the 25-year-old went on to admit:

“Good offers came in, many of them just conversations and not real proposals. I knew how important it was for me to be at Real Betis.

“Atlético Madrid and other clubs… But it didn’t go beyond conversation. The official offer I received from Real Betis is the one I wanted. The others weren’t discussed beyond conversation.”
