El Chiringuito reports that Vasco’s pursuit of Nelson Deossa has been mired in conflicting accounts, with talks stalled after more than a month. An early pause followed recent institutional turbulence around the Rio club.
Vasco are understood to have the player's approval and to have provided the requested financial guarantees, with a pre-agreement in place with Real Betis. Betis have put the move on hold and are withholding final approval, viewing the hold-up as salary talks with the player.
The midfielder's camp has stayed cautious, indicating the clubs are still ironing out final details before any signature. Deossa remains in Betis’ pre-season and impressed on Thursday, scoring in a match.
Figures involved describe the deal as advanced, yet bureaucratic hurdles prevent completion. Vasco remain optimistic, saying the financing model satisfies investor Marcos Lamacchia. A loan with a pre-set purchase option has been agreed verbally, pending bank guarantees amid the 777 Partners transition.
Vasco also continue midfield talks with Santiago Sosa and Kevin Castaño. Deossa, 26, is a versatile, high-energy central midfielder who emerged at Atlético Huila, had brief spells at Estudiantes and Junior de Barranquilla, then broke out at Atlético Nacional before joining Real Betis.
