La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Saturday announced a fresh personnel setback in the club’s first-team ranks.
This comes amid confirmation of Dani Carvajal being primed for an incoming spell on the sidelines.
Defender Carvajal has for his part struggled for game time over recent weeks, since his return from a prior injury problem.
The 34-year-old, whose contract terms in Spain’s capital are set to expire in the summer, has fallen firmly behind Trent Alexander-Arnold in the right-back pecking order in Álvaro Arbeloa’s squad.
And as alluded to above, this weekend, Carvajal’s prospects for the remaining weeks of the campaign have taken another turn for the worse.
As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms:
‘After the tests carried out on our player Dani Carvajal by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with a fracture of the distal phalanx of the fifth toe on his right foot. Pending evolution.’
The hope is that the veteran stopper will return just in time to play his part in the season’s final round of La Liga fixtures.
