In a recent report, journalist Dean Jones mentioned that Real Madrid are keeping tabs on Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister. It has been stated that Los Blancos are eyeing a move to bring the Argentina international to the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium next year.

Mac Allister’s Impressive Form In The Premier League

Mac Allister enjoyed a decent run of form at the Merseyside club in the previous campaign after he put in a series of impressive displays for them at the centre of the park. The Argentine talent was involved in 49 matches for the Reds last season, scoring seven goals and grabbing six assists on all fronts.

The 26-year-old anchored the midfield well as he made 95 tackles, 61 blocks, 22 interceptions and 29 clearances in the Premier League. He was even excellent when distributing the ball from midfield after completing 83.5% of his attempted passes in league football (stats via fbref.com).

His current contract at Anfield will run out in the summer of 2028. Thus, it won’t be easy for Los Blancos to sign him on the cheap next year.

Should Real Madrid Boss Xabi Alonso Move in For Mac Allister?

Mac Allister is a good tackler of the ball and can time his challenges well to earn the ball back for his side inside his half. He doesn’t mind clearing the danger when the opposition are on the front foot and is a tidy passer of the ball.

The Argentine sensation can even contribute by scoring and creating his fair share of goals from midfield. He has got a wealth of experience at the highest level, but only time will tell whether he can make a smooth transition to life in La Liga if Real Madrid manage to bring him on board next year.

Mac Allister would enhance the quality of Los Blancos head coach Xabi Alonso’s midfield department. He is more than capable of nailing down a regular first-team spot at the Madrid club in the coming years.

At 26, Mac Allister has his peak years ahead of him, which makes him a worthy target for Los Blancos to pursue in 2026. He might even help Real Madrid compete for some major honours in the future. Hence, Alonso would be wise to move in for him this January or at the end of this campaign.
