Victor Munoz was one of several academy prospects who left Real Madrid last summer, with the young winger signing for fellow La Liga club CA Osasuna.
The 22-year-old starlet has enjoyed a breakthrough campaign at his new club, scoring five and assisting four goals from 25 games in all competitions.
Now, it has emerged that a club from the Premier League tried to sign Victor Munoz during the recent winter transfer window.
Indeed, according to journalist Matteo Moretto (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Sunderland contacted Osasuna and put €25 million on the table in an effort to secure his signing before the window closed.
However, the Pamplona club’s response was clear and emphatic: a firm “no”.

Sunderland improved their proposal by offering the loan of Spanish player Eli Mayenda until the end of the current campaign, but it fell on deaf ears as Osasuna referred to the €40 million release clause stated in the player’s contract.
It should also be noted that Real Madrid retain 50% of the player’s economic rights. Therefore, although Osasuna are responsible for responding to any offers, the Spanish capital club remain attentive to a potential financial gain that could arrive in their accounts.
For now, though, no deal has materialised, but Sunderland’s approach does not appear likely to be the last offer Osasuna will receive for Munoz.
In fact, AC Milan have been monitoring him since before his move to El Sadar and could make a move. There has also been talk of Los Blancos considering the possibility of re-signing Munoz themselves in the summer.
