The stellar opening to the summer being enjoyed by La Liga giants Real Madrid has on Sunday continued…

This comes amid confirmation that Los Blancos have beaten out the stiff competition to the signature of Chelsea star Marc Cucurella.

Defender Cucurella has of course taken his place centre stage in the media headlines across Spain for several weeks now.

After word was forthcoming that the 27-year-old was eyeing a new challenge away from Chelsea, both Barcelona and Atlético Madrid were quickly credited with an interest in his signature.

As alluded to above, though, in the end, it is Spanish football’s other headline club who have thrashed out an agreement to bring the left-back in.

As per a report from transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid have agreed a deal to sign Cucurella this summer:

‘Real Madrid reach verbal agreement to sign Marc Cucurella from Chelsea, HERE WE GO!

‘Verbal agreement in place between all parties, player too — he’s the left-back wanted by Mourinho. Details to follow.’
