Real Madrid have opted to keep their winter squad intact, blocking a Bournemouth move for left-back Fran García.
Marca reports that the interest stemmed from manager Andoni Iraola, who knows García from their time together at Rayo Vallecano, with the approach first flagged by Cope.
Despite that stance, García was said to be open to a move due to limited minutes. The 26-year-old has been behind Álvaro Carreras and was unused against Rayo Vallecano, when Álvaro Arbeloa deployed Eduardo Camavinga at left-back.
He had previously been on Benfica’s radar. Since the new head coach took charge at Madrid, he has played only 90 minutes.
This season the left-back, valued at €15 million, has featured in 15 games, seven in La Liga, five in the Champions League, one in the Supercopa de España and two in the Copa del Rey. Across 713 minutes, he has scored one goal.
