Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has provided his take on the on-pitch fallout between Luka Modrić and Vinícius Jr.
For those who may have missed it, Modrić and Vinícius grabbed the Spanish media headlines late on Wednesday night.
This came after the pair were spotted exchanging angry words, late in Real Madrid’s last-gasp Copa del Rey victory over Leganés.
According to Marca, Modrić scolded Vinícius for not tracking back, to which the Brazilian responded in an exasperated fashion.
This left his captain less than impressed, with both Modrić and midfield partner Valverde having pulled rank, making clear to Vinícius that he must do more for the team.
The latter was left looking notably downtrodden following the full-time whistle at The Estadio Municipal de Butarque, making his way straight down the tunnel.
Speaking to the media post-match, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of the temporary unrest in his squad was put to Carlo Ancelotti.
And the Italian opted to take the side of Modrić, in explaining:
“Modrić was angry with Vinícius? I don’t know what happened but if Modrić said something then it’s correct. Always agree with Luka Modrić.”
