According to AS, Real Madrid are close to completing the signing of promising left-back Victory Okorie, currently part of the academy of Deportivo Alaves.
The 15-year-old defender is expected to join the club next season and begin with the Juvenil B team at Valdebebas.
Okorie will turn 16 in May, the age when players can sign their first professional contract. That made him one of the most contested youth prospects in Spain and Europe.
Several clubs showed interest, including Barcelona and Atletico Madrid domestically, as well as European giants like Inter Milan and Juventus.
Despite strong offers from abroad, the player and his family preferred to remain in Spain to continue his development.
Alaves had even offered a long-term pathway that could eventually lead to the first team, but the club understands the player’s decision and is expected to reach a compensation agreement with Real Madrid.
Real Madrid have always favoured attack-minded left-backs. For decades that flank was dominated by legendary players such as Roberto Carlos and Marcelo.
Not very long ago, the Merengues also explored signing Alphonso Davies from Bayern Munich before he ultimately renewed his contract there.
Looking toward the future, Real Madrid now appear set to secure one of Spain’s most promising young full-backs.
Scouts describe Okorie as a powerful, attack-minded left-back with excellent pace and the ability to recover defensively when needed. His ball carrying ability and vision when delivering passes into attacking areas stand out.
In fact, inside Real Madrid’s academy, some scouts have made bold comparisons, describing him as “a mix between Alphonso Davies and Roberto Carlos.”
Real Madrid’s plan is for Okorie to begin next season with Juvenil B, allowing him to adapt gradually after turning 16. If he progresses quickly, he could occasionally step up to Juvenil A, though the club intends to handle his development carefully.
