Real Madrid confirm Marcelo tribute plans before Atlético clash | OneFootball

La Liga giants Real Madrid have on Saturday confirmed plans to pay tribute to club legend Marcelo.

This, of course, comes after the defender this week announced his decision to call time on his legendary playing career.

Marcelo most recently lined out for Fluminense in his home country of Brazil, but is best remembered for his time spent plying his trade in Spain, with the aforementioned Real Madrid.

Tributes have since come pouring in from Blancos players past and present, as well as fans over the course of the last 48 hours.

And as alluded to above, later today, Real, as an institution, will follow suit.

As confirmed in a statement across the website and social media platforms of the Spanish champions, a tribute has been scheduled for Marcelo prior to tonight’s Madrid Derby:

‘Marcelo will be honoured at this Saturday’s derby at the Santiago Bernabéu. Our stadium will have the opportunity to say goodbye and recognise the Brazilian, who announced his retirement from professional football on Thursday.’
