Real Madrid have reportedly informed David Alaba that he will not be offered contract extension opening the door for the Austrian defender to leave the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

According to Spanish outlet Defensa Central, the club has already communicated its decision to the player’s representatives & granted the 33 year old permission to begin talks with other clubs from January 2026.

Saudi clubs already in contact

The report adds that Alaba has received offers from several Saudi Pro League teams and is open to making the move viewing it as likely final chapter of his professional career.

End of successful spell

The Austrian international joined Real Madrid in 2021 on free transfer from Bayern Munich becoming instant starter and helping the club win La Liga & the Champions League during his early seasons in Spain.

However injuries and the emergence of new defensive targets have reshaped the club’s long term planning under the new sporting direction.
