Earlier this month, Real Madrid summer signing Trent Alexander-Arnold suffered a hamstring injury just a couple of minutes into his UEFA Champions League debut for the club against Marseille.

It piled on what has been a disappointing start to life as a Real Madrid player for the Englishman, whose performances had not been at the level expected in the early parts of the campaign.

Following his injury, it was indicated that Trent would be out for a period of six to eight weeks. It essentially put his return for some time in late October or early November.

Trent to come back earlier than expected?

However, according to the latest update from MARCA, Trent is now expected to be fully fit after the upcoming international break.

It would mean that the 26-year-old England international could return ahead of schedule and make his comeback sooner than initially anticipated.

This could come as a big boost for Real Madrid, especially considering that they are set to play arch-rivals FC Barcelona on 26 October in the first El Clasico of the season.

With Dani Carvajal also suffering an injury last week and getting sidelined for a month, his availability for the Clasico is a major question mark as things stand, even though the player wants to return in time for the game.

But, in case Real Madrid recover Trent after the international break, there will be no need to rush things with Carvajal and let him recover with ease, especially considering his age and injury record.

The international break gets underway from 5 October, and Real Madrid will return to action on 19 October in an away game against Getafe.

A few days later, they face Juventus in the UEFA Champions League (22 October) before the Clasico at the Santiago Bernabeu. It now remains to be seen if Trent is fit and ready for these crucial matches.
