Real Madrid picked up their fifth win of the 2025/26 season on Tuesday night as they defeated Olympique de Marseille 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabeu, riding on a brace from Kylian Mbappe.
However, the victory came at a significant cost for Los Blancos as they were dealt with two blows – one of which saw Trent Alexander-Arnold getting taken off minutes after kickoff.
According to Mario Cortegana of The Athletic, Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered an injury to his left hamstring.
The Real Madrid right-back will undergo tests in the coming days to determine the extent and severity of the injury.

Trent had started the game against Marseille at right-back, ahead of captain Dani Carvajal. But just two minutes in, when he opened up to receive the ball from Thibaut Courtois, Trent clutched the back of his thigh as he felt sharp pain.
Soon enough, the club’s medical department took a look at him and the player had to be substituted by Xabi Alonso, with Dani Carvajal replacing him.
Later on in the game, Carvajal himself was forced off the pitch, not due to injury, but a red card for headbutting Marseille goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli, for which he could face a three-game ban.
As for Trent, it remains to be seen how serious the hamstring injury is, but it is a big blow for the summer signing, who has endured a challenging start to life at Real Madrid.
Since making the switch from Liverpool in June, the 26-year-old right-back has made ten appearances, registering two assists.
