The final international break of the season is officially done and dusted and it has given some Real Madrid players some valuable time to speed up their recovery.

One of them is Eder Militao. The Brazilian international has missed the decisive part of the season due to an injury and has recently returned to the Real Madrid squad that will take on Mallorca this weekend.

Militao unlikely to start vs Mallorca or Bayern

However, despite being a part of the Real Madrid squad, it is unlikely that Militao will start against Mallorca today and will only get some minutes off the bench.

As a matter of fact, the Brazilian will not start even in the upcoming game against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, an important clash in the context of Real Madrid’s title hopes this season.

This is according to AS, which suggests Real Madrid are not willing to take any risks with the fitness of Militao and will carefully reintegrate him into the dynamics.

The centre-back has had a sketchy injury record in the recent past, having struggled with multiple long-term knocks. Therefore, the club do not have any desire to rush him back into the action.

Real Madrid are particularly aware that Eder Militao hasn’t had any action in the past four months. Speeding him back into the pitch, therefore, could be a massive risk. As such, he will not start in the upcoming two matches and will only feature off the bench.

This is despite the fact that the Brazilian himself was keen on getting back to the thick of things, having missed a sizable chunk of the season due to injury.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa, though, has ample options to cover not only the centre-back position but also the left-back position, where at least three players are vying for a place in the starting eleven.
