Real Madrid issued a statement on Friday denying any contact with Enzo Fernandez, as speculation continued to link the Chelsea midfielder with the Spanish club.
The club said it had made no direct or indirect approach and had no intention of pursuing such a move. It also expressed its respect for the 2022 World Cup winner and for Chelsea, with whom it said it maintains excellent institutional relations.
“We are studying the options to leave Chelsea,” said Javier Pastore, the former PSG midfielder who now represents Fernandez, in an interview with Marca.
He added: “He has many friends in Madrid, notably Julian Alvarez, and whenever they have the chance they spend time together in the city. I also live in Madrid, and when he comes it is to see me and sort professional matters. But who does not like Madrid? I have never played there, and I live there.”
The stance follows a similar Real Madrid denial over Michael Olise two weeks earlier. Fernandez is currently at the World Cup with Argentina.
