The debate around football finances never fades, and wages remain one of the most talked-about aspects of the modern game.

From dressing room dynamics to performance expectations, salaries often shape narratives both on and off the pitch.

A recent breakdown has once again put the spotlight on La Liga, with Real Madrid unsurprisingly leading the way.

According to figures revealed by L’Equipe (h/t Mundo Deportivo), Real Madrid occupy the top position in the salary rankings.

As expected, at the very top sit Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr., who are currently earning around €2.67 million gross per month.

However, that balance is set to shift soon, as Vinicius has a built-in salary progression that will see his earnings rise further.

Once he signs a new contract, his annual salary is expected to increase from €16 million to €18 million net, meaning he is likely to surpass Mbappé as the club’s top earner.

Who are the other high-earning members?

While the top two names come as no surprise, the real talking point lies just behind them.

David Alaba currently sits third on the list, earning approximately €1.8 million per month.

This is particularly striking given his limited playing time in recent seasons, making his position one of the more unexpected aspects of the ranking.

Following Alaba is Robert Lewandowski of Barcelona, who earns around €1.73 million monthly.

Completing the top five is another Real Madrid star, Jude Bellingham, with a salary close to €1.67 million gross per month.

Looking ahead, there could be significant changes. With Alaba potentially departing next summer, Madrid would free up one of the highest salaries on their wage bill.

That financial flexibility could then be redirected towards strengthening the squad further, particularly by targeting players with a more central role in the team’s long-term plans.
