Real Madrid are moving to sell Federico Valverde after his bust-up with Aurelien Tchouameni, with the dressing room withdrawing support. EL PERIÓDICO reported club sources believed he had effectively sealed his exit.

Both were disciplined. Team-mates say Valverde refused to make peace, blamed Tchouameni for a leak and launched two heavy challenges, then a dressing-room fight ended with a right hand flooring him and a cut from a table.

Team-mates back the Frenchman’s account, recalling a clash with Luka Modric and describing Valverde as hot blooded. His punch on Álex Baena in the Bernabéu car park is held against him.

This season he publicly questioned Xabi Alonso over playing right back before Kairat, was dropped, then refused to warm up. Florentino Pérez intends to sell him, a move only a contrary order from José Mourinho could stop. Mourinho will confirm his Bernabéu return in the coming days.

Madrid expect a notable fee. Plans include several defensive signings and at least one midfielder, barring a major surprise Rodrigo Hernández. To fund moves, exits considered include Valverde, Camavinga, Ceballos, Gonzalo and Fran García, plus out of contract Carvajal and Alaba. He is not seen as irreplaceable, with Brahim, Rodrygo or Trent Alexander-Arnold options on the right.

Valverde is resting at home with a diagnosed traumatic brain injury, sidelined for 10 to 14 days. He will not play again this season and there is no sign he will next. He has 371 Madrid appearances, 41 goals and 44 assists.
