Real Madrid’s poor run of form continued as they were held to a goalless draw by Rayo Vallecano at the Vallecas.

In what was their final game before the November international break, the team struggled with creativity and dynamism in the final third of the game.

The draw leaves Barcelona with an excellent opportunity to bridge the gap at the top of the table. But if that wasn’t enough, it appears a couple of Real Madrid players suffered knocks too, during the game against Vallecano.

Valverde and Courtois to undergo tests tomorrow

According to MARCA, both Federico Valverde and Thibaut Courtois finished the match with physical discomfort and are scheduled to undergo medical tests tomorrow.

Valverde was substituted in the final minutes after feeling discomfort in his right adductor muscle. The club’s medical staff will now assess his condition before clearing him to join the Uruguayan national team.

“A different kind of discomfort… Was fine before the match,” Xabi Alonso confessed in the post-match press conference.

In the case of the Belgian goalkeeper, it appears to be a strain in his right thigh. Courtois’s injury will also require examination to rule out a more serious issue.

At Real Madrid, caution reigns; it is hoped that neither injury is serious. The results of Monday’s tests will determine whether both players can join their international commitments or if they will have to stay in Madrid to recover.

Even if something does come across, Real Madrid will hope it will be not be a long-term one and can be fixed during the course of the international break.
