Even though the current season is still not over, Real Madrid are already making major moves in the transfer market to strengthen their squad.

Trent Alexander-Arnold is all set to join the club as a free agent with his Liverpool contract expiring on June 30.

Meanwhile, a deal for Dean Huijsen of AFC Bournemouth is also close to being completed, with Los Blancos agreeing to pay his £50 million release clause and finalising a five-year contract.

The focus has now shifted to the reinforcement of the left-back position, with SL Benfica star Alvaro Carreras seen as the top priority.

Plan B: Milos Kerkez

However, Carreras comes with a €50 million release clause which Real Madrid are reluctant to pay and will try to negotiate a lower fee with Benfica. If talks fail, they have lined up a possible alternative for the former academy ace.

As per MARCA, Real Madrid see AFC Bournemouth youngster Milos Kerkez as Plan B if they are unable to secure the services of Carreras from Benfica.

The 21-year-old Hungarian left-back has enjoyed a fine season in the Premier League, impressing with his energy, pace, and attacking capabilities.

Kerkez has made 36 appearances for Bournemouth in the English top flight this season, scoring two and assisting six goals.

The young left-back has a contract with the Cherries that runs until the summer of 2028. As such, they will be reluctant to let him leave, especially after having had to part ways with Huijsen.

So, it might take a sizeable fee for Real Madrid to secure his services if they do indeed go after his acquisition.

For now, however, Carreras remains the top priority to strengthen the left-back department with negotiations already underway with Benfica to find a mutually beneficial agreement.
