Real Madrid are preparing a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Vitinha in 2026 (h/t Marca).
Los Merengues have been linked with several midfielders this summer following the departure of Luka Modric to AC Milan.
But everything indicates that Los Merengues will no longer buy players, having signed Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen and Franco Mastantuono for more than €100 million.
They are reportedly ready to break the bank for Vitinha when his €90m release clause becomes effective next summer.
The 25-year-old has enjoyed a meteoric rise as one of the best midfielders in the world after helping PSG win their first Champions League title last season.
The Les Parisiens midfield lynchpin featured in 58 games in all competitions, bagging eight goals and five assists.
He ranks in the 99th percentile for passes attempted and completion, and 95th for progressive passes.
Vitinha also averages 9.91 passes into the final third per game, which emphasises his role as the club’s chief tempo controller and playmaker.
His treble triumph with PSG and the Nations League title win with Portugal have earned him a nomination for this year’s Ballon d’Or award.
PSG manager Luis Enrique will be determined to keep Vitinha, but Los Blancos have always lured the best players to the Spanish capital.
However, the negotiations will not be straightforward due to the strained relationship between the two clubs following the Kylian Mbappe saga.
Xabi Alonso wanted to add a new central midfielder to his squad, but the Madrid manager will have to stick with the available options.
Jude Bellingham will be sidelined until October after undergoing shoulder surgery last month.
Eduardo Camavinga, Aurelien Tchouameni, Arda Guler and Federico Valverde will compete for the starting spot.
