The 2026 summer transfer window is yet to open, but Real Madrid have already confirmed two new arrivals in this transfer window, that of the Liverpool center-back Ibrahima Konate and the Inter Milan fullback Denzel Dumfries. The Merengues are expected to land some more players in the coming months.

Meanwhile, their main contenders in Spain, FC Barcelona, have also made some quick moves in the market, and have also already secured a key offensive reinforcement, i.e., the Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon.

This move from the Catalans could end up impacting Los Vikingos’ transfer plans to some extent as well. This is clear from a report from MARCA, which claims that Newcastle United are seeing Victor Munoz as their preferred replacement for Gordon, and have already made an offer of €35 million fixed and €5 million in add-ons for the forward.

Munoz is currently playing for Osasuna, but Real Madrid kept 50% rights on the player and also a right of first refusal when they sold the player. Furthermore, they also have a €8 million purchase option on the winger.

Thus, with Newcastle’s offer, there are two possible alternatives open for the Merengue club. They can either exercise their right of first refusal and buyback right to get the player for Jose Mourinho for the next season, or they can get up to €20 million from the Premier League side’s offer.

For now, Victor Munoz would have his attention focused on the World Cup, as he is a part of Spain’s squad for the competition. Several other clubs have also been interested in him, but with this episode, it seems likely that his future lies in the Premier League. For their part, Real Madrid stand only to gain from the player, whether he returns to the Merengue club or joins another club this season.
