Real Madrid legend Toni Kroos has admitted he would join Inter Milan if he ever decided to come out of retirement.
Speaking to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the 34-year-old acknowledged he never considered leaving the Santiago Bernabeu despite drawing interest from Serie A.
One of the best midfielders of his generation, Kroos spent ten years in the Spanish capital, lifting 22 major titles.
The ex-Germany international was the midfield anchor of one of the most trophy-laden generations in the club’s illustrious history.
Indeed, Kroos won five UEFA Champions League trophies with Los Blancos.
In addition to vast international success, the skilled German helped the record-time La Liga champions to four league titles.
Considered one of the best deep-lying playmakers ever to grace the beautiful game, Kroos called time on his career at the end of last season.
However, many still believe he’d be a midfield mainstay at any top European club.
Fresh off being awarded the Golden Player Man 2024, the now-retired superstar assessed the current state of Italian football.
“I think the level has risen significantly in recent years. We see it especially in European competitions,” Kroos stated.
“Inter reached the final a couple of years ago.
“Atalanta won the Europa League against Leverkusen, the newly crowned champions of Germany, and Milan defeated Real Madrid at the Bernabéu.
“There are several clubs that can compete until the very end,” he added.
Meanwhile, Kroos revealed his admiration for Inter’s style of play under Simone Inzaghi.
Asked which Serie A club he’d join, the 2014 FIFA World Cup winner had no doubt.
“Not knowing the inner workings well, it would be hard to choose one,” he claimed.
“Maybe, at this moment, I wouldn’t have minded playing for Inter.
“They play with confidence, composure, and quality, trying to impose their game against anyone. They’re really strong.”
