The brass at La Liga giants Real Madrid are giving consideration to an audacious summer swoop for a member of the midfield ranks at Manchester City.

That’s according to Diario AS, who point towards Rodri as the player in question.

It is now common knowledge across Spain that Real Madrid are on the lookout for reinforcements in the middle of the park with a view to next season.

With Luka Modrić’s departure now confirmed, incoming boss Xabi Alonso’s squad will need fresh blood in midfield.

A shortlist of targets for the summer, in turn, has been drawn up by those behind the scenes at the Santiago Bernabéu.

And if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, one frontrunner now appears to have emerged in the eyes of the Real board.

As per AS:

‘Real Madrid are willing to shell out a huge sum for a ‘mastermind’. And there’s a favorite: Rodrigo Hernández. He’s the most liked by the brass, a wish clouded by his ACL injury. But he’s still desired.’

It now remains to be seen if Manchester City are even willing to sit down for negotiations over a transfer for the former Ballon d’Or winner.
