Real Madrid have stepped up their pursuit of a new striker, and according to Fichajes, the latest name on their radar is Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres.
Club president Florentino Perez is said to be personally backing the move as Los Blancos prepare for a new chapter under their likely next manager, Xabi Alonso.
Gyokeres, a 26-year-old Swedish international, has had an incredible season at Sporting, racking up 52 goals and 12 assists in just 49 appearances.
His consistency in front of the goal has caught the attention of several top European clubs, including Arsenal and Manchester United, but Madrid are now in the race and plan to move quickly.
It is no secret that despite having Kylian Mbappe, Madrid are still in need of a classic number 9 to lead the line, and the club’s sporting department believes Gyokeres has the strength, finishing ability, and work ethic needed to fit seamlessly into the current setup.

His physical presence and eye for goal make him a perfect partner for Madrid’s current attacking stars, especially in high-pressure Champions League games.
Meanwhile, it is said that Sporting have set his price at €100 million, but Madrid are confident they can negotiate a better deal.
The Spanish giants hope to take advantage of their good relationship with Sporting and convince the player that the Santiago Bernabeu is the perfect stage to take the next step in his career.
Furthermore, it must be noted that it is the same price that Real Madrid are asking for Rodrygo and if the transfer is indeed successful, the team from the Spanish capital would not face financial troubles in pulling off Gyokeres’ transfer.
Meanwhile, Arsenal and Manchester United are both serious contenders and view Gyokeres as a priority for their summer plans.
However, Madrid are banking on the prestige of their club, the chance to lead the line at the Bernabéu, and the prospect of competing for La Liga and Champions League titles as the key factors that will sway the striker’s decision.
