Real Madrid are closely monitoring FC Porto’s rising star Rodrigo Mora, viewing him as the perfect candidate to replace Rodrygo if the Brazilian forward leaves for Manchester City, claims a report from Fichajes.
It is known that Pep Guardiola is keen on bringing Rodrygo to the Premier League, and Madrid are already preparing for the possibility.
Xabi Alonso, who has a clear vision for his squad, is understood to have personally requested Mora.
The Spanish coach believes the young Portuguese talent is an ideal fit for the right wing, capable of linking up seamlessly with the club’s attacking line.
Although Mora’s natural position is in the centre as a playmaker, his versatility has stood out.
A signing that offers depth and versatility
For Alonso, Mora’s signing would do more than simply fill a potential gap left by Rodrygo. It would also provide valuable cover in the attacking midfield role, especially with Jude Bellingham set to miss the opening months of the season due to injury.

This flexibility makes Mora a highly valuable target. Furthermore, president Florentino Perez is said to be impressed by Mora’s profile, which aligns perfectly with Madrid’s strategy of signing young, high-potential players.
If a deal is struck, Mora could soon be combining forces with Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappe, creating one of Europe’s most dangerous attacking trios.
Speculation about Mora’s future intensified after he was left out of Porto’s opening league match against Vitória Guimaraes.
Reports in Portugal claim the club is holding him back amid ongoing transfer negotiations.
If Rodrygo’s sale materialises, Mora’s arrival would strengthen both the right wing and the attacking midfield.
For Alonso, this is not just a short-term fix but a strategic investment for the future, one that could significantly enhance Real Madrid’s attacking options for many years.
