Real Madrid are looking to appoint Jose Mourinho as their new head coach.
According to Sky Germany, the Spanish giants have made direct contact with Mourinho over a return to the Santiago Bernabeu.
The Portuguese boss is open to joining Madrid, where he won three trophies during his stint between 2010 and 2013.
However, he wants full control and a significant say in transfers.
But it remains to be seen whether Perez is ready to comply with the 63-year-old’s demands.
Mourinho has managed some of the biggest clubs in the world, but he has a confrontational approach to management.
He won three trophies during his last stint at Madrid, but he also fell out with several senior players.
Mourinho is currently managing Benfica, who are unbeaten in the Primeira Liga but are still nine points behind leaders Porto.
The former Manchester United boss is contracted until 2027, but Madrid can trigger a €3 million clause to release him.
Los Blancos are currently in crisis, as they are almost guaranteed to end the season without a trophy.
Their dressing room is in disarray, with Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde involved in a shocking training-ground bust-up.
Valverde was taken to hospital after sustaining a ‘traumatic brain injury’.
