“We, like the whole team, are very happy with this historic evening,” Guler said after the game. “We played exactly as our coach wanted.

“This was Calha’s hundredth appearance, and we are very happy with his appointment as captain.

“And we will continue to bring joy to our people.”

On the other hand, Yildiz waxed lyrical about the Inter playmaker.

“Hakan is a legend,” he stated .”He is our captain. It’s a great honor for me to play alongside him in his 100th game.”

After breezing past Bulgaria, Turkey will host Georgia in a must-win home clash tomorrow.

Despite moving three points ahead of their upcoming rivals, Montella’s side must avoid complacency.
