Real Madrid have rewritten the story around their academy this season, with MARCA revealing a standout statistic that places La Fabrica ahead of every other club in La Liga.

Up until the most recent international break, the outlet mentions that a total of 62 academy players have made their official debuts across the Spanish first division.

Within that number, Real Madrid lead the way when it comes to promoting youth talent into first-team football.

To understand the context, a player is only considered a true academy graduate if they have progressed through the club’s youth ranks and made their senior debut without leaving the club beforehand.

Based on that criteria, Madrid sit at the top.

Injuries within the first team have forced the club to look towards their youth setup, and both Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa have responded by trusting young players.

Under Alonso, opportunities were handed to emerging talents such as Victor Valdepenas and David Jimenez, giving them their first taste of top-flight football.

Arbeloa has pushed things even further, fast-tracking several prospects into La Liga action within a short span.

Players such as Jorge Cestero, Thiago Pitarch, Cesar Palacios, Manuel Angel and Diego Aguado have all been handed debuts.

Combined with Alonso’s contributions, that brings the total to seven debuts from the academy.

What’s the comparison?

What makes this more significant is the comparison with other clubs.

Teams traditionally known for developing talent, such as Barcelona and Athletic Club, have not matched Madrid’s numbers this season, having introduced five academy players each.

Even clubs like Levante (6) and RC Celta Vigo (5) fall slightly behind.

Simply put, the bigger picture is that La Fabrica is no longer a production line for future sales or squad depth. Rather, it is actively contributing to the first team.
