A pair of iconic figures at La Liga giants Real Madrid have tonight issued responses to the news of Vinícius Jr. being named ‘The Best Player’ in the game.
FIFA’s annual The Best ceremony took place earlier this evening.
The headline prize up for grabs at the gala came in the form of ‘The Best Player’ of the Year, widely considered, after the Ballon d’Or, as the most prestigious individual accolade in world football.
And, when all was said and done, after being snubbed for the ‘Golden Ball’ back in October, Vinícius finally had his moment, lifting the trophy as ‘The Best’ the beautiful game has to offer.
Messages of congratulations, in turn, have since come pouring in for the Brazilian, from players past and present alike.
And, as alluded to above, a short time ago, adding their respective names to the latter category were two of Vinícius’ former teammates in Madrid.
Taking to their respective Instagram accounts, Karim Benzema and Toni Kroos made clear their delight for Viní, by way of the following posts:
