Canadian star Alphonso Davies has renewed with German giants Bayern Munich in a deal keeping him at the club until at least 2030.
This is a hammer blow for Real Madrid, who had been chasing the 24-year-old’s signature for some time now, hoping to sign the left back on a free transfer.
At certain points over the last six months or so, a deal between Davies and Madrid looked like it was going to be just a matter of time, but today’s announcement closes the door on that deal.
If Real Madrid should look to reignite their interest in Davies, they will have to cough up a hefty fee and will likely have to wait several years for a deal to be possible.
Real will likely have to turn their attention elsewhere for the left-hand side of their defence, with Girona’s Miguel Gutierrez having been touted as an alternative option.
