Dani Carvajal bid Real Madrid goodbye last night as he played one final game for the club before his departure in the summer.
Next season, the duties will thus be officially taken over by Trent Alexander-Arnold who arrived in the summer but suffered a difficult first season at the club which was riddled with injuries.
Last night, the player was present at the Santiago Bernabeu as Carvajal bid the stadium goodbye but did not play a part in the game as he was out with the flu. His missing the final game, needless to say, sums up the kind of mixed season he has had.
After missing out on the team’s final game of the season last night, Alexander-Arnold took to his Instagram page via Defensa Central to pen a heartfelt letter to the Real Madrid fans outlining his first season in Spain and how the team will only get better.

He began by speaking on the warm welcome he received in Madrid and thanked fans for the love and support.
“Madridistas, you have welcomed me with open arms. From the first day I arrived, you have protected me. It took me a few months to find the rhythm and settle into the new environment, but now I feel completely at home.”
The player then promised improvement in the next season and vowed to bring silverware back to the Spanish capital.
“I will take a good rest and work during the summer. I promise that we will bring trophies back to this incredible club next season!”
Alexander-Arnold’s exclusion from England’s FIFA World Cup squad was one of the most shocking developments of the week as Thomas Tuchel has decided that there is no place for the Real Madrid star in the side.

His difficult season at Real Madrid is the primary reason for his exclusion, and while the player will be gutted at the development, he must look towards the silver lining.
Now out of the World Cup, the right-back has over a month to rest and recover before pre-season and will look to get past all his physical fitness concerns with adequate rest. After all, he will be keen to be fit and available throughout next season.
