Real Madrid’s Champions League elimination at the hands of Bayern Munich continues to generate controversy, with the decisive moment of the tie now under scrutiny.

The late sending-off of Eduardo Camavinga has become the central talking point, with several Madrid players openly questioning the decision after the final whistle.

The incident occurred in the closing minutes at the Allianz Arena, when referee Slavko Vincic showed Camavinga a second yellow card.

The reason given was time-wasting, as the midfielder held onto the ball following a foul.

However, from Real Madrid’s perspective, the punishment felt excessive, especially given the magnitude of the occasion and the balance of the tie at that moment.

Up until that decision, Madrid were still very much alive in the contest. But the red card shifted the momentum instantly.

Reduced to ten men, Los Blancos struggled to maintain control, and Bayern took full advantage by scoring twice shortly after, sealing their progression to the semi-finals.

As the players made their way out of the stadium, frustration was impossible to hide.

Jude Bellingham, one of the team’s standout performers this season, did not hold back when addressing the controversial call.

Reacting to the decision in front of cameras, he said, “A joke,” remarked the English midfielder in reference to the sending-off.

Furthermore, defensive leader Antonio Rudiger shared similar sentiments, although he chose a more cautious approach when speaking publicly.

Clearly frustrated but mindful of the consequences of his words, the centre-back said, “It’s best I don’t talk about the referee. Did you see the red card?”

Pressed further on the incident, Rudiger could only express disbelief, adding, “Have I ever seen anything like that? Ugh…”
