Real Madrid’s 0–2 defeat at the hands of Celta Vigo is shaping up to be far more than a simple bad night at the Bernabeu.

As such, according to a report from Alberto Pereiro, the fallout inside the club has been immediate, sharp and intense.

The journalist reports that Florentino Perez, usually calm in public and measured in his private reactions, is said to be genuinely furious – not only with the players, but with head coach Xabi Alonso as well.

And that, sources say, is the most damning part that the president is placing both parties on the very same level of responsibility.

Perez was already frustrated by the team’s erratic performances in recent weeks, but the defeat to Celta, a team Madrid expected to dominate, pushed the situation into a new territory.

The lack of discipline, the mental collapse after the red cards, and the absence of any real reaction on the pitch have reportedly left the president questioning the leadership of the dressing room as much as the tactical decisions from the bench.

Trouble at Real Madrid

Those close to the situation claim that Perez viewed the loss as a reflection of deeper issues.

Real Madrid did not simply lose – they lost their composure, their structure and their identity. And when a club of this stature folds so easily at home, the alarm bells ring at executive level.

Internally, Perez is said to be demanding answers. Xabi Alonso, who has enjoyed strong backing since taking over, is experiencing his first major moment of pressure.

While the president is not considering any radical decisions right now, the message is that the standards of Real Madrid cannot slip, not even temporarily, and certainly not in front of their own fans.

Jobs at stake?

Players who showed impatience, complained excessively to the referee, and allowed frustration to dictate the tempo of the match have also come under direct fire.

Perez reportedly considers this behaviour unworthy of Real Madrid and believes that the squad needs a psychological reset as much as a tactical one.

And the timing could not be worse. With Manchester City looming in Europe and a title race still alive, instability is the last thing Madrid need. Yet that is precisely what has landed at their doorstep.
