Real Madrid will face RCD Espanyol in Cornella in less than a couple of hours, aiming to maintain their lead at the top of the La Liga table.
The Merengues have a four-point lead over Atletico Madrid, but that gap could be down to one by the time the game kicks off in Catalonia.
Beyond the three points, this match carries special significance for Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, who will be closely watching the game, according to Defensa Central.
The Los Blancos chief will be paying particular attention to Espanyol’s goalkeeper, Joan Garcia, who previously delivered an excellent performance at the Santiago Bernabeu when the two teams met earlier in the season.
Perez’s interest in Garcia is clear, as the player is on the radars as a potential signing to reinforce the goalkeeping position.
Real Madrid currently boast one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Thibaut Courtois, along with a reliable backup in Andriy Lunin.

However, the future of the club’s goalkeeper situation is still up in the air for the next season. It remains unclear whether either of them will leave.
On one hand, Courtois has received a significant offer from Saudi Arabia, where they hope to make him one of the stars of their league, capitalising on the fact that he has not yet renewed his contract.
Although it appears a decision on his future will be made in the coming days, with his continuity looking increasingly likely.
As for Lunin, despite all the transfer rumours last summer, he ended up renewing his contract at the start of this season. However, that does not guarantee his stay, as he has been given limited playing time.
Lunin has only replaced Courtois in the Copa del Rey, which could lead him to consider leaving for more opportunities elsewhere.
In case of either player departing, Joan Garcia appears to be an option for Real Madrid, with Perez, in particular, set to keep an eye on how he fares in the game tonight.
