Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. has seen a request to join attacking partner-in-crime Kylian Mbappé as the club’s top earner rejected.

That’s according to SER, who have on Friday provided an insight into the situation.

Wide-man Vinícius and his entourage have long been locked in talks with the Real Madrid brass, over the terms of a contract renewal.

This comes ahead of the expiration of the Brazilian’s current terms in the summer of 2027.

As of yet, however, no agreement has been reached between the parties.

And as alluded to above, late this week, an insight into precisely why has been forthcoming in the Spanish media.

As per a report from SER:

‘Vinícius Júnior has asked Real Madrid to receive the same amount as Mbappé to extend his contract.’

With the former fresh off something of an underwhelming campaign all told in 2024/25, the Santiago Bernabéu brass have been left surprised by such demands.

To the point that they have refused to meet Vinícius’ request.

The 25-year-old has been urged to up his performance this coming season, at which point his salary demands could be revisited.

If an accord is not found, however:

‘Real Madrid would propose a sale for astronomical amounts’ in the summer of 2026.
