Endrick’s redemption at Olympique Lyon has been one of the biggest success stories in football so far this year.

The Brazilian youngster, after a horrid start to life at Real Madrid, joined Lyon on a loan deal in January and has never had to look back since.

Endrick racked up eight goals and eight assists in 21 matches during his short spell at Lyon, which even earned him a place in the Brazilian World Cup squad. He will be back at Real Madrid in the summer.

According to AS (h/t Bernabeu Digital), Real Madrid are expected to consider Endrick a critical part of the first team and see him as an option in the right-wing position.

This is despite the fact that the youngster is largely known as a centre-forward. He played both roles at Lyon and was successful in both.

However, it must be noted that Endrick was far more successful in a central role, racking up five goals and four assists in eight matches, compared to three goals and three assists in 12 matches as a winger.

Real Madrid, though, have their hands tied as Kylian Mbappe will lead the attack once again, thus leaving Endrick as an option on the flanks.

All eyes on the World Cup

Between now and the start of next season, Real Madrid will be keeping a close eye on the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Thanks to his blistering form at Lyon, coach Carlo Ancelotti is likely to consider Endrick a vital part of the Brazilian team. He may even start as the main forward, with support from teammates Vinicius Jr. and Raphinha.

If the Real Madrid star can impress at the World Cup, his fate at Santiago Bernabeu could change dramatically, with new coach Jose Mourinho already willing to support him.
