Alphonso Davies of Bayern Munich has been a priority target for Real Madrid heading into the summer transfer window of 2025.
The 24-year-old Canadian international’s contract with the Bundesliga record champions expires at the end of the season and for quite some time it appeared that the left-back will sign for Real Madrid as a free agent.
However, the scenario has changed in recent weeks, with Davies now appearing likely to sign a renewal agreement and continue at Bayern Munich beyond the season.
While nothing has been agreed or signed yet, it appears that Real Madrid are already preparing contingencies in case Davies slips out of their hands.
As such, Caught Offside reports that Real Madrid have set their sights on PSG youngster Nuno Mendes as a potential alternative to reinforce the left-back position.
Mendes, 22, has developed nicely since joining PSG from Sporting CP back in 2022. However, his contract with the Parisian giants expires in 2026 and with renewal talks yet to progress, rumours about his future have sparked up.

Manchester United, for one, have shown a concrete interest in signing Mendes, while their local rivals Manchester City are also understood to be keeping tabs on the Portuguese international.
Now, it appears that Real Madrid, too, have thrown their hats in the ring for Mendes, although their pursuit will likely hinge on Davies’ decision.
At the same time, it is not entirely ruled out that the 22-year-old will sign a new contract with PSG either.
While Real Madrid may be monitoring Mendes, their primary target to strengthen the left-back department remains Davies.
The Merengues also have the option of re-signing former academy man Miguel Gutierrez on the cheap through a buyback clause as well. So, it will be interesting to see which way they decide to go when the time comes.
