Real Madrid star Luka Modrić on Tuesday evening secured for himself a fresh piece of Blancos history.
This comes after the Croatian was named in Carlo Ancelotti’s starting XI for the club’s upcoming Champions League showdown with AC Milan.
Real are of course primed to return to action in short order, when they welcome Italian heavyweights Milan to the Santiago Bernabéu for a meeting between the competition’s two most successful-ever clubs.
The Spanish champions’ line-up for the clash was, in turn, unveiled online a short time ago.
And the aforementioned Luka Modrić was named as part of a star-studded midfield quartet, alongside all of Aurélien Tchouaméni, Federico Valverde, and Jude Bellingham.
And, in the process, the 39-year-old has etched his name ever further into the history books in Spain’s capital.
As revealed by statisticians Opta:
‘Luka Modrić will make his 99th start for Real Madrid in the Champions League, becoming the midfielder with the most starts for the club in European Cup/Champions League history (Toni Kroos, 98).’
