La Liga giants Real Madrid look set to be without the services of a leading member of the club’s defensive setup for the foreseeable future.

This comes amid confirmation of the extent of Dani Carvajal’s injury.

The name of full-back Carvajal has emerged as a prominent one in Spain’s capital on Monday evening, after word was forthcoming that the 33-year-old has suffered a fresh fitness blow.

As per a statement across Real Madrid’s website and social media platforms, Carvajal is set to go under the knife over the coming days, to solve a joint issue in his right knee.

Los Blancos’ medical report did not provide an insight into how long as much is expected to keep their defensive stalwart sidelined.

But an insight into precisely that has since surfaced online.

As revealed by Real Madrid insider Arancha Rodríguez of COPE, Carvajal is expected to miss the next two to three months of action.

The Spanish international, fresh off his return from a prior spell on the treatment table at Valdebebas, is understood to have suffered his latest problem in last night’s victory over Barcelona.
