An insight into the extent of the injury absence awaiting Real Madrid star Raúl Asencio has been forthcoming online. This comes amid the understanding that the 23-year-old is set to miss the opening of the new La Liga campaign.

Defender Asencio was for his part dealt a heavy setback earlier today. Amid ongoing efforts to convince new boss José Mourinho of his talents, the Spaniard was forced to pull out of a pre-season training session.

After a round of medical tests, it was subsequently confirmed by Real Madrid that Asencio has suffered ‘a muscle injury in the rectus femoris of his right leg’.

Los Blancos’ statement did not include any information regarding the likely length of their defensive talent’s incoming spell on the sidelines.

As alluded to above, though, an insight into as much has since followed, courtesy of club insider Arancha Rodríguez. Asencio, it is claimed, will spend ‘approximately six weeks’ recovering from his thigh problem.

A return at some point in September has therefore been pencilled in by Real Madrid.
