After a dream start to his life at Real Madrid, Jude Bellingham’s form and fitness have been a real concern for the club in recent times.

Ever since going through surgery to fix his shoulder woes, Bellingham has looked merely a shadow of his former self and is no longer the differentiator he used to be.

Although his performances are still top class, the consistency has been lacking, and it is weighing on his prospects for the English national team as well.

Premier League players put pressure on Bellingham

With the 2026 World Cup just around the corner, the battle for a spot in Thomas Tuchel’s number ten position could be intense, reports AS.

Once the first name on the team sheet, Bellingham now finds himself looking over his shoulder. The general consensus is that, unlike Harry Kane, Bukayo Saka, or Declan Rice, the Real Madrid No. 5 is no longer considered untouchable by the coaching staff.

Bellingham is mainly facing competition from Premier League peers such as Phil Foden, Cole Palmer, Morgan Rogers and even Morgan Gibbs-White.

Manchester City’s Foden has returned to his electric best, netting six goals in his last five league matches to remind everyone of his quality.

Meanwhile, Chelsea’s Cole Palmer, despite battling injuries, remains a constant threat who demands special treatment.

Perhaps the most significant danger to Bellingham’s starting spot, however, is Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers. The 23-year-old has been prolific, scoring braces against top opposition and earning Tuchel’s trust as a serious option for the number 10 role.

With the England manager admitting that tactical structure prevents him from fielding all these superstars simultaneously, Bellingham faces a gruelling battle.

Fortunately, Bellingham’s performances under Xabi Alonso have been improving, and the player is a contender for La Liga’s U23 player of the month in December.

If he can enjoy a good second half of the season, it could go a long way in guaranteeing his spot in the England team for the 2026 World Cup.
