Although their last two trophyless seasons raised doubts about some of the biggest Real Madrid stars, the World Cup 2026 has strongly dispelled these doubts. All three star attackers of the Merengue team, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Junior, and Jude Bellingham, shone for their respective national teams in the top international competition this year.

As recently reported, Real Madrid are the club whose players have scored the highest number of goals in the competition. With the conclusion of the quarter-final stage of the tournament, Los Blancos’ players have 19 goals to their name.

As MARCA has noted, this means the Merengues have broken a historic World Cup record, which was previously held jointly by Honved, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain. All these three clubs had seen their players score 18 World Cup goals, with Honvéd achieving the feat in 1954, Bayern Munich in 2014, and Paris Saint-Germain in 2022, but with 19 goals in 2026, Real Madrid have now created a new record.

This new record was created only yesterday, as Jude Bellingham scored a brace to help his English national team come from behind and win against Norway. They have now made their place in the semi-final, in which the Three Lions would be facing the defending champions, Argentina.

With this brace, Bellingham took his World Cup tally to 6 goals. Mbappe has scored another 8 goals, being the joint-top scorer in the competition with Lionel Messi. Vinicius Junior scored 4 goals and Arda Guler scored 1 goal, but both of them have already been eliminated from the tournament.

Thus, despite concerns at the start of the competition, Real Madrid will be very happy with how this World Cup has gone, and how their star players have performed. Hopefully, Jose Mourinho would be able to help these players continue with their good form as they return for club duties for the 2026-27 season.
