Real Madrid’s hunt for a new manager is well and truly underway, as we approach the final few matches of the season.

Alvaro Arbeloa is almost destined to leave his role as the head coach and due to the dearth of good-quality managers available in the market, Real Madrid are likely going after a stopgap solution.

Jose Mourinho has emerged as the likely solution as Real Madrid look to navigate through a period that has witnessed immense tension in the dressing room.

In recent days, talks between Mourinho and Real Madrid have intensified, with the Portuguese tactician more than prepared to return to Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid give verbal offer

According to El Larguero (h/t Madrid Zone), Real Madrid have sent their verbal offer to Jose Mourinho regarding the vacancy of head coach for next season.

The Portuguese mastermind only needs to accept the verbal offer and the job will belong to him, going into the new season.

Following Mourinho’s acceptance, a series of formalities are likely to follow, which may take until the end of the season to conclude. Real Madrid would ideally hope to announce their new coach before the World Cup.

It must be remembered that Mourinho has a long-term contract with SL Benfica, so the formalities process may take longer than expected.

Benfica, though, have reportedly started the process of finding a replacement for Mourinho.

The coming weeks, therefore, could be critical as Mourinho looks to complete his fairytale return to Bernabeu, where he had once managed some of the footballing greats like Cristiano Ronaldo, Xabi Alonso, and Sergio Ramos, among others.

This time around, Mourinho will be tasked with the responsibility of pacifying a dressing room filled with egos such as Vinicius Jr., Kylian Mbappe and Federico Valverde, among others.
