Real Madrid have confirmed they have opened disciplinary proceedings against Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde after their shocking training-ground bust-up.

The two stars were involved in a second confrontation in two days, with Valverde taken to hospital after sustaining a ‘traumatic brain injury’.

The La Liga giants have announced they have launched an internal probe into the matter.

The confrontation between the two players started early on Thursday when Valverde refused to shake Tchouameni’s hand.

The Uruguay international accused Tchouameni of leaking the story of their previous fight, a claim his teammate denied.

As the situation escalated, Valverde fell and banged his head on the corner of a table.

Madrid confirmed the 27-year-old’s injury, but said he is now in a good condition.

Valverde later posted a lengthy Instagram statement, insisting Tchouameni didn’t hit him and the injury was caused when he accidentally hit a table.

The latest incident came just three days before Madrid’s crucial league game with Barcelona at Camp Nou.

If Alvaro Arbeloa’s side do not win, the Catalan club will be crowned champions.

Madrid have already crashed out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage following a 6-4 aggregate defeat to Bayern Munich.
